2018 — present

Roketsan

Lead Special Tooling & Equipment Design and Manufacturing Engineer

  • Responsible for designing and manufacturing all necessary tools and auxiliary equipment in assigned projects. These include:
    • Solid rocket engine tools
      • Motor case
      • Nozzle, etc.
    • Warhead and pyrotechnic tools
    • Welding apparatus
    • Assembly equipment
    • Test and measurement systems
    • Transport and storage equipment
  • Designing in the process together with tooling; analyzing the process and carrying out designs and production suited to the process.
  • Having equipment I designed manufactured within Roketsan or by subcontractors, and providing technical support to companies in this regard.
  • Management of the machining workshop in the Tool department for one year; supplying the raw materials and tools needed for the workshop.

2012 — 2018

Roketsan

Metrology Engineer

  • Dimensional Metrology Laboratory supervisor.
  • Calibration and accurate measurement work across measuring devices including CMM and portable CMM; measurements and alignments to verify longitudinal dimensions of parts, gages, and tools per technical drawings and required calibration periods. Dimensional, torque, angle, and special-purpose instruments. Verifying drawing/specification requirements using several methods and devices; reporting per GD&T and tolerances with traceable calibration records.
  • Measurement plans for newly integrated or manufactured components; supporting other departments on accurate measurements and non-ordinary parts.
  • Clarifying drawing requirements with production and sub-suppliers; gage operations per international ANSI/ASME standards.
  • End-to-end preparation for the calibration department’s first accreditation and successful ISO 17025 accreditation; measurement uncertainty evaluation.
  • First in-house CNC milling and turning calibrations with a laser interferometer per VDI 3441; precise angle measurement (e.g. better than 1 arcsecond on two-axis index setups).
  • Pre-acceptance and factory acceptance of CMMs and optical CMMs per ISO 10360, including visits to Carl Zeiss and Hexagon Metrology; developing precision measurements required by Roketsan inspection and evaluating technical conformance of optical CMMs and CNC machining systems during pre-acceptance and factory acceptance.

Six Sigma case study (metrology)

Automatically determining calibration periods for measuring instruments; reducing the number of gages required and man-hour costs.

  • Project leader; ~2500 lines of code; Minitab & Excel.
  • Automatic decisions based on statistical analysis of past measurement results.
  • Data entry form that minimizes technician error.
  • Reduced man-hour costs.
